The idea is not the event but the outcome.
Our events help your people build on improvements in productivity and accelerate them.
They help build communities of your people
which will sustain the process of change.
The benefit of Catalytic Events is accelerated improvements in productivity.
The idea behind Catalytic Events - that underpins this key benefit - is to invite the 'whole person' to attend, participate and sustain their contribution.
Not the 'delegate', 'title', 'position', or 'function', but the person behind the badge.
And with that goal always in mind, we help our clients to construct and run events that act as major catalysts for change. The by-product of setting up the events in this way is that they create 'instant communities', that endure beyond the event. And this thought of beyond the event is critical.
Most event organisers judge the success of the event by asking people at the end how they enjoyed it, or what they got from it?
tcp's interests lie exclusively in what happens next.
In fact, many of the delegates may find the experience uncomfortable. They will all certainly not experience what they expected to going in.
This is not to say that we recommend 'sensory depravation', 'boot camp', 'paintballing' or any other extreme techniques beloved by so many of our competitors.
Instead, the 'scariest' thing we do is allow participants to engage with each other as people - as human beings first, not practitioners.
Then we vest them with the notion that they, individually and collectively, are responsible for managing the consequences of what they have experienced and learned, after they leave.
And we place a great deal of emphasis on preparation for the event, so that each person comes ready to participate and contribute in, as far as we can manage in advance, the right frame of mind.
The reason for this is that many delegates typically arrive at an event with the attitude of "give me the information in digestible form, show me a couple of examples and let me go home.
Or even worse, having been to so many similar events in the past, they know how to 'play the game', appearing to support the event idea fully, whilst in fact being at best dismissive or at worst cynical.
This is a 'detached' mentality in which the individual gives the least possible whilst appearing to give the most.
And yet, these people are critical to the successful and consistent application of the core components of the company's differentiation in the marketplace – namely its vision, strategic goals and intellectual capital.
Whether the event is for six (a core leadership group re-defining their roles against the vision of the company) or sixty (a worldwide operational management group working out how to execute the new vision), the approach is the same.
We are seeding the behaviour we wish the participants to replicate when they return to their home markets or jobs.
We are seeding the notion of freedom allied to responsibility. Of individual creativity allied to the power of community.
But most importantly, before we begin the event we will have helped to design and put in place the follow through mechanisms that the individuals and the organisation must adhere to in order for the catalyst to take hold and
gain momentum.
Most often, we will ensure that there is a well-maintained system for communication both within the group and with its sponsors.
We will also seek a system for capturing, codifying and sharing knowledge because it is the understanding of behaviour in given situations - allied to the intimacy gained in one another at the event - that fuels the continued catalytic reaction.
In short, despite the focus on humanity and people, the system is the star if it sustains the catalytic reaction the event began.
And in summary, we will seek to bring the group together face to face (often in smaller units to aid frequency), so as to deepen their community, relationships and knowledge and sense of direction.
Of course, each event is unique in its scale and to a degree also, its complexity.
Our experience tells us that there is a guide ratio, which can give a client a good estimate of cost. This is that for every day of the event there will be an equal number of days preparation and also of follow up.
The minimum fee for Catalytic Events is £15,000.
